I've

Part 1
Download some nice grooves for verse patterns of mambos.
Many of my students want to know what to play in a
mambo style song. This may be for a gig situation, for
a rehearsal band, or just to make sure they know what
to play. Here are two grooves found in Book One that
can help. Both of these grooves employ the sound of
the maracas and clave, applied to the drumset.

uncovers the rhythms of Brasil. You will learn dozens of
traditional and contemporary bossa nova and samba patterns,

and solos.
The book also teaches the popular Colombian
rhythm cumbia. It ends with transcriptions of some amazing
timbale solos and ways of using parts of them in fills.

This
book has been a labor of love and was almost five years
in the making. The original idea was to transcribe the
drum parts from my favorite James Brown songs like Sex
Machine, Make It Funky, Super Bad, and others. I realized
that drums without bass would be a mistake so the bass
parts were added. Then, another realization; got to
have the guitar parts. And so the book's new form was
born. What has come to pass with this release from Manhattan
Music is a real one-of-a-kind book. It's historical
and anecdotal.
