A Relatively Simple Lesson

Compared with some of the other lessons here, this is kind of simple. Here's a ride pattern (could be for cymbal, hi hat, maybe on a tom) which is inspired by the drum called "chico" from the Candombe rhythm of Uruguay. Use this pattern with some of your favorite grooves, for a new flavor and new movement of the groove. Find a groove that you like and substitute this ride pattern for the one you would normally play. You'll find that your pattern has a new feeling to it.

 

Try and pay attention to the accent.
